The quarter-final stage of the World Cup
The quarter-final stage of the World Cup has been reached and the quarter-finalists have been decided. Ghana will take on Uruguay in the first quarters, and will look to create history by becoming the first ever country from Africa to enter the semi-final of the World Cup.
The second quarter-final on Friday have the five-time champions Brazil play the Dutch and while Brazil have not been their own self, they have played some effective soccer in the tournament. Holland, on the other hand, have won all their games so far, and can be expected to give them a tough fight for a berth in the semi-finals.
Argentina and Germany will feature in what should be a cracker of a quarter-final on Saturday and the winner will take on the winning side from the Spain-Paraguay game. Argentina have been the form side of the tournament, but the side will need to tighten up their defence against Germany who have scored many goals as well.
Spain’s campaign had started disastrously, but the win over Portugal in the second round means that they will be a difficult side to overcome in the quarter-finals for Paraguay.
